Official Launch of two new Rideau books: Ed Bebee's "Invisible Army" (about the canal staff, 1832 to present) and Ken Watson's "Tales of the Rideau" (true stories of the Rideau Canal). 2:00 to 4:00 pm at The Depot in Blockhouse Park (near the upper lock). Meet the authors. Get your books signed. |

Newboro Lock |
Rideau Waterway Land Trust Summer Festival - this fun event runs from 10am to 11pm. Food and Beverage service beginning at noon. Barbeque through the afternoon with Chicken Dinner beginning at 5pm. The event is L.L.B.O. licensed.
Some of the Events that will be occurring:
- Displays by local conservation and environmental groups: 10am-4pm
- Displays and merchandise by local authors (Ed Bebee, Ken Watson, Sue Pike, and Vicki Cameron are currently confirmed to attend with others pending): 10am-4pm
- Free boat tours aboard “Chuckles:” 10am-4pm
- Free children’s activities and games: 10am-4pm
- Birds of Prey show and display: 10am-4pm; shows at 12pm, 2pm, and 4:15pm
- The Fast and Furious Sea Trials: boat building 1pm-4pm; race 4:45pm
- Rideau Idol singing competition: 1-2pm
- Japanese Drummers: 3-3:30pm
- Raffle draw, trophy presentations, and RWLT presentation: sometime between 5pm and 7:30pm
- Route 66 live band: 7:30-11pm

Long Island Locks |
35th Annual Ottawa International Antique and Classic Boat Show will be held on Saturday August 7, 2010 at the Long Island Locks on the Rideau Canal (400 Nicolls Island Road, Manotick). This one day, non-judged show is free of charge, featuring antique and classic boats, historical displays related to the canal, vendors and local non-profit groups. Smiths Falls and Jones Falls |
Join the Rideau Volunteers and
help protect our cultural history and environmental future. REAL and RCM
are offering a free bus trip to Jones Falls on Sunday Aug 22 from 10 to 3.
You'll learn about Whispering Bridges, near death experiences and the nature
of the canal. Cost is free if you pledge to volunteer your time with either
the Rideau Canal Museum or the Rideau Environmental Action League. Pre
