May 15 Perth WHY WORLD HERITAGE? a talk by Ken Watson. A look at the historical reasons the Rideau was designated a World Heritage Site such as the slackwater canal design and the military role of the canal, the use of the Rideau through time that kept it operational and the challenges that the Rideau Canal faces today in light of government cuts to this unique World Heritage Site. May 18-19 Seeleys Bay Seeley's Bay Spring Opener - fun for the whole family as Seeley's Bay celebrates spring. Children's activities, BBQ, Silly Boat Race and much more. For more info see: www.seeleysbay.info
May 19 Delta 2nd Annual Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. Put on your fancy hat and join us for a crazy high tea in the Old Town hall in Delta, from 1 to 3 pm. It’s all fun and games and yummy treats for every age. Entertainment provided by RILTS theatre group, and special musical guests The Fiddlers Plus. Tickets are $12.50/adult and $8/child and are available in advance by contacting the Delta Mill Society (info@deltamill.org / 613-928-2584). The Old Stone Mill will also be open. June 20 to 23 Ottawa The Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival is the largest event of its kind in North America and takes place at Mooney's Bay Park June 20-23, 2013. This year's festivities will span 4 days and will include racing, free concerts, free family fun, extreme sports demonstrations, local delicacies, multi-cultural and heritage performances and so much more. June 22 Westport The The Westport Heritage Street Festival 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Enjoy live music, unique craft vendors and various heritage display, petting zoo and Rideau District Museum Tours. The Street Festival features a select group of quality venders selling arts, crafts, gifts and food. Kids play area includes fun activities, a petting zoo, face-painting and balloons.
