| This short (4 minute) photo video will show you some of the sights at the Poonamalie Lockstation and then carry on down the Rideau River to the Smiths Falls Detatched Lock. Poonamalie features views of the lock, lockmaster's house and the dam. A short stop at the Swale (Class 1 wetland) features some of its wildlife. Then we pass under the 1912 Bascule bridge (Schertzer Rolling Lift Railway Bridge) and end at the Smiths Falls Detached Lock. Click on the Play Arrow button in the middle of the video to start it. This is part of a south to north series of the Rideau Canal, each video focussing on a single lockstation and the waterway between it and the next lockstation. |
