Turtles are plentiful on the Rideau and they are most often seen on logs or rocks sunning themselves. Their shells, when out of water, often look dull but if you get a chance to see a turtle in the water, the colours becomes much more apparent. Here we see the interesting patterns on the shell of a Common Map Turtle.
