16. George* Clarkson Stanfield
George was an artist, following in his father's footsteps. After his older brother Henry died in 1838, his father, Clarkson, turned his attention to George who became his artistic pupil and later his assistant. He never achieved the same ability or fame as his father. He painted in a similar style, although he mostly did European landscapes with a few coastal scenes. After his father's death in 1867, George's career and health deteriorated. He drank heavily and died, of liver disease, in the care of his sister Harriet (Mrs. Bagshawe) [Spectacular Career of Clarkson Stanfield].
