Special Notes: Owned by Parks Canada and run via a private contract. This is the largest island in a set of islands collectively known as “Long Island”. It was formerly known as "Livingston Island" and may be marked that way on older charts. The flat roofed building on the Island is “Wag’s Lodge,” built by Danny Arnstein (co-owner of Yellow Cab in New York and Chicago) in 1949-50. The cottage features two massive “peanut rock” fireplaces and “driftwood plywood” walls.
Of Interest: Tennis Courts. Beach.
Notes: Closest gas is 5 km south at Portland. There are no local services. Portland offers full services.

5) Allows tent camping for those arriving by water and also for cyclists and hikers.

Barry Ross is interested in restoring the rather unique "cottage" on Colonel By Island that used to belong to Danny Arnstein, the owner of the Yellow Cab Company of Chicago and New York City. The cottage, designed by architect Horace Roberts of Westport, was built in 1949-50. If you know of any local person who is still alive who had personal dealings with Mr. Amstein, or anyone with old (50s, 60s) photos of the building (particularly the interior) please contact contact Barry Ross at bpross@idirect.com
