| The Rideau Canal was built several decades before the advent of photography, so we don't have any photos of Colonel By and his family. But, at many of the Rideau 175 celebration events, you might catch a glimpse of the By family. This portrait was taken at the grand opening ceremonies in Smiths Falls on May 22, 2007. We have Lt. Colonel John By (Steve Weir), his wife Esther (Pam Buell), his eldest daughter, Esther March By and his youngest daughter, Harriet Martha By. |
