Froggy
Bullfrog, Sand Lake
photo by: Ken W. Watson, 2004

A face so homely that only a mother could love it. I found this fellow sitting peacefully on a mat of "weeds" (aquatic vegetation). These mats are bunches of vegetation that most often have been cut up by the propellers of passing boats. They clump together and then drift into area of calm water. While boaters may curse them, they do provide habitat for a variety of wildlife which can be viewed if one takes the time to stop and look. In this case a Bullfrog that wasn't particularly disturbed by my presence. I noted half a dozen other frogs, a Northern Water snake, one turtle and dozens of dragonflies and damselflies.
