Bloodroot
Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis)

A member of the poppy family, this is another early spring flower in the Rideau region. The blood red sap (poisonous) of the root was used by native americans as a dye. These flowers make beautiful splashes of white, yellow and green among the rocks and leaf litter.
