BATTERSEA LOUGHBOROUGH LAKE ASSOCIATION (Inc.)
Loughborough is a large lake ( 1800 hectares ) consisting of two distinct basins and is located 20 km. north of Kingston, Ont. Loughborough Lake is the most southerly lake trout habitat in Ontario other than Lake Ontario and has a long history of providing varied recreation for both local residents and distant visitors.
The BLLA was founded in 1963 with these objectives:
- To promote conservation of water, fish and wildlife in the Battersea-Loughborough area and the natural beauty and advantages of the area consistent with the orderly development thereof;
- To maintain clear water, good fishing and water safety in the area; and
- To obtain and maintain adequate police and fire protection in the area.
Today the BLLA remains active in all of these areas and has formed partnerships with like groups, businesses and government agencies to successfully pursue our goals. Current membership consists of approximately 100 families and a dedicated core of volunteer directors and executive. We are actively pursuing new members to keep out voice strong during these times of changing regulatory authority and high pressure from developers.
Annual membership fee is $10 and lifetime membership is $150.
